Last week while traveling I caught a lovely bug that’s had me totally drained the last few days – hence the lack of posts around here – but when you’re in the midst of travel that involves photo shoots, guess what you have to do? Rally. Bigtime. And all I can say about that shoot is, thank God for makeup!
I’m the opposite of a beauty junkie – other than nail polish, I hardly ever spend time or money on updating my stash with new items for the season. But in going through my makeup drawer last week I realized that I’m in desperate need of some new items. So we spent some time going through the top fall beauty trends, and came out with three that I’m totally on board with!

If you haven’t heard, the 90’s are back. That’s the only explanation for the brown tones that have been all over the runways and mags… especially in lipstick. This one is tricky, you guys. The wrong brown will make you look blotchy or a Halloween costume gone wrong. Experiment until you find the right one! I remember back in, like, 9th grade my go-to shade was Revlon’s Rum Raisin. Apparently it still exists (!!!) which means I’m heading to the drug store this weekend.

Confession: I kind of hate nail art. But I do like getting a little more creative with nails, beyond the usual one-color mani. So this is the perfect trend for me to adopt… because I’m kind of lazy. Er, I mean minimal. The bare nail look is definitely in for fall (want more coverage than the ones shown here? try this). I like this look with darker colors like black, navy or saturated teals and greys. And a nail pen is a must for those thin lines and dots.

There is a very thin line between imperfect brows and on-the-verge-of-a-unibrow brows. If you’re lucky enough to have thicker brows then get out those brow gels and have at it! I’ve been trying to let mine grow more naturally and thicken up – using tinted gels really helps give them a lush look without having to do the two step brow color + gel process.
